Merit Technology Solutions has its roots as an internal IT department for a medical staffing company. As employees, we were blessed to have a CEO that saw the importance of IT and allowed us to be innovative and cutting edge in the name of progress. To name just a few of our initial accomplishments, we transitioned the network to the cloud, we broke free of the traditional legacy phone system and implemented the VoIP phone system, and we set up each user so that they could work remotely in case of inclement weather or other business disruptions experienced at our physical location. Each of these internal projects was approved with cost savings and greater efficiency in mind, and each one successfully accomplished those goals. In addition, we were able to get rid of on-premise servers, backup drives, and bulky battery backups as well as minimize the man hours required to maintain the internal hardware and software.

We were so effective at our job that we nearly found ourselves unemployed and this is where Merit Technology Solutions was born. We saw the opportunity to help business contacts and friends that owned businesses in our local area. We were asked by other like-minded business owners to help them get ahead of the curve as well. It wasn’t long before we were on-boarding our first clients and walking them through what we had learned through our own implementations. And then the world was turned upside down in March 2020, and business would forever be changed.

The staffing company that had supported us through the years was able to send all employees home with their laptops and other necessary equipment on that first day of lockdown. They transitioned seamlessly without skipping a beat. They created a new “normal” and continue working remotely to this day. The other companies we were working with soon followed. All because a few guys with a desire to utilize technology to push the business forward were allowed to do what they love.
